LIBERALIZATION OF THE ENERGY MARKET

What is the Free Market?

The liberalization of the electricity market проходит through several phases: the first phase requires mandatory transition to the free market for medium-voltage business consumers, the second phase applies to low-voltage business consumers, including small and medium-sized enterprises (non-household customers), and a third phase (planned for 2021) targets household consumers.

Currently, we are in the second phase. The amendments to the Energy Act, adopted on May 5, 2020, establish deadlines and requirements for all business consumers connected to low voltage to mandatorily select an electricity supplier by October 1, 2020 (regardless of whether they operate in rented or owned premises).

Energy Market JSC holds License No. L-194-15/28.11.2005 for “electricity trading”, as well as a license for “coordinator of a standard balancing group and a combined balancing group”. The license is valid until November 28, 2025.

The company is among the top three suppliers on the free market, with over 2,800 customers, part of the EM Group.

SCOPE OF APPLICATION

Who Does It Apply To?

The changes apply to all legal entities (non-household customers) connected to the electricity distribution network at low voltage, regardless of whether they operate in rented or owned premises.

Legal entities that did not conclude a contract with an electricity trader by October 1, 2020, remained on administratively assigned tariffs on the free market, with this option available until June 30, 2021.

If you have not yet switched your supplier or are not satisfied with the terms offered by your current electricity provider on the free market, you may change your supplier by the 10th day of each month. As the transition process requires time, it is recommended not to wait until the last moment.

7 Easy Steps to Transition to the Free Market

4. The customer signs an electricity supply contract

5. The customer provides an invoice listing the sites to be registered

6. The supplier submits the required applications between the 1st and 10th of the month
